Personly i think its basecly certain thay are the common portrayal of an Alien. This isnt the only place ive heard this but the common alien portrayal is actully often called a Grey or Gray to distinguishe them from other typical aliens (Like martians/little green man or those replile peaple)
Ok to be honest this fact dosnt confirm that Fishlabs based the Grey of the reported Grey aliens but it makes that seem pretty likely. They have the same name and look almost identical, main differences beying GOF Greys have taller heads and i believe them to be taller then the other Grey species
